It’s hard to believe that we just kicked off our 47th year of summer camp here at Woodward Camp in PA and while we have added many friends over the years we are always happy to add more!  A very special thank you goes out to all of our Week 1 campers that are here with us this week and the parents that have made it happen!  Check out all of our Week 1 campers in our smugmug cabin photo gallery where you can even grab a print if you’d like!

As campers start to arrive this summer there will be a very exciting change viewable from almost everywhere in camp.  The horizon of camp will have a slightly different shape as the Big Dirt jumps have been moved to make space for an all new asphalt pumptrack that will be used by all prgrams with wheels. 

The new area will be fit with rollers, gaps and series of berms creating a perfect never-ending line. Come shred it this summer and check out some pictures of the build below.

We are super excited to announce that one of the new changes for 2016 includes a completely redesigned area for Big Dirt that will include runs throughout the trees.  While we are just a couple weeks from camp it is certainly crunch time for getting these things done. Luckily we have Mark Tomasic and Evan Eisenhard from Dirtsculpt LLC on the job.  Check out some quick snaps of what’s done so far and be sure to check back for updates on the next leg as the line drives down into the trees.

At the end of every week we pass out a small questionaire to each of our campers that covers things like what food did you like, who was your favorite staff member and what would you like to see added next year?   Well, you requested it and we delivered!  A resi quarter was listed on a bunch of those camper evals and we found the perfect place to build.  Check out the new Cloud 9!  

A new 7′ quarter lines the back wall, fit with a 12′ wide padded section of resi that allows you to attempt the trick you’ve been dying to learn as many times as you need without taking that hard slam on wood or concrete. 

At first glance Cloud 9’s Box Rhythm may appear to be the same but it’s not. On top of flipping the direction we added over a foot to the second box in length and made it a step up.  Transfer in and out of the rollers against the wall or use the deck as the perfect run up for the new resi quarter.

You requested it, so we delivered!  Many of our campers last year requested a need for a resi quarter to be added and we just couldn’t agree more.  We put a lot of thought into the best place to add this feature and decided it would be nice to have it in Cloud 9 with many of the other foam and resi features but were presented with the problem of making the back section flow as well as giving BMXers, skateboarders and scooter riders all enough speed and run up.  After a bit of planning we decided to flip the double box jump and make some changes in the process.  

Our remaining Getaway Weekend guests will be able to get first crack at the new set up starting this weekend.
